crochet

I'm trying to teach myself how to crochet, I've been watching these You tube videos over and over. I'll get there but I'm pretty bad at it at this stage.

Mum has said she'll teach me when she's here in November. I really want to make a big continuous granny square rug for snuggling under. My goal is to have one made by next Winter.

Like this but blues and greys

  1. Good for you, I love crochet, and I also learnt from Youtube, you are lucky to have a mother who can teach you.

  2. I've only just learnt basic crochet myself. I made my first washcloth for a swap and I really enjoyed it.
Crochet is much quicker and more satisfying than knitting I think.
Youtube videos are such a help when learning a new stitch or technique, I wouldn't have known how to start without watching videos over and over.

    1. Thanks for your comment Zara, I thought crocheting looked like it might be a bit easier than knitting- only one 'stick' for a start! lol

  3. I learnt via youtube as well, plus a really old craft books I found in a an op shop with step by step pics. Once I had the technique I took a few classes at a knitting shop here in Tga which was brilliant. A large granny square blanket would be a great first project- once you get the hang of it it'll be easy as as you are just repeating the stitches till you're finished. I started making individual granny squares for a blanket about 3 years ago, I made about 3/4 of what I needed to (about 75 I think) and then I just stopped and haven't touched them since, really need to do the last 25!! Happy crocheting :)
