olympic role play

I'm not a very sporty person but like to encourage the kids to be active every day. We've been really enjoying watching the games as a family. The husband and I were giggling to the point of tears ( well I was) at them copying the weightlifters a few nights ago. They got the squat, chin then lift positions perfectly. A friend had posted some pics on facebook of her boys lifting 'weights' so, for a bit of role playing fun, I thought ours might like a set to take in to pre school on Monday.

I wrapped a long rolled up piece of cardboard in that plastic black tape we seem to have heaps of rolls of ( from taping up league socks???)

I cut 4 circlish type shapes ( I could've used a plate as a template but didn't) 2 for each end and taped a band of cardboard between each to look like weights. When I googled the Olympic images lots of the weights seemed to be red so we painted them that way.

a black line to make it look lie there's 2 weights on each end and reeeeally heavy

1...2...3.....LIFT!
