a 'jobs' chart

M and T needed a little motivating in the morning and we thought it was time we taught them a little bit about money.

I made up these charts, they get a tick if they do the job and a dot if they don't. There's also a chance to gain bonus ticks for helping around the house or garden ie: peeling potatoes, picking up flax leaves before we mow the lawns, helping with the laundry.

At the end of the week we take 20c off for every dot or job not done ( it  works out at around $5 each). We want to get the message across that if you don't do the work, you don't get paid.

Homework and reading are not on there- they are just things we have to do and actually enjoy.

Do your kids have 'jobs'?

an example of a bonus job : )

  1. Looks like a great system Becky - our girls have jobs and pom pom jars. good stuff get pom poms, not good stuff loose pom poms... and if the jar is filled you receive a reward. the more you loose the longer it takes!

  2. That sounds like a great idea Leonie. I'm just hoping he novelty doesn't wear off here! If it does I'll be buying pom poms : )
